Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Columbia County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash in Columbia County this afternoon that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:25 pm, a sport utility vehicle driven by a 37-year-old O'Brien woman was traveling south on State Road 247 approaching the intersection of SW Callahan Avenue.

As it approached, the SUV left the roadway, colliding with two signal supports before entering private property and colliding with a standing tree.

The driver was transported to HCA Lake City, where she was pronounced deceased by medical professionals.

FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the collision.
