Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Duval County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Duval County on Monday that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP incident report, at approximately 2:15 pm, a 30-year-old Jacksonville woman driving a sedan was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in the middle travel lane, east of Lane Avenue, within Duval County.

The driver was attempting to merge into the right travel lane. While doing so, she started to lose control of her vehicle, causing her to veer left towards the left shoulder of Interstate 10.

Once the vehicle was on the shoulder, the left front struck an excavator that was parked on the left shoulder due to construction in the area.

After hitting the excavator, the vehicle traveled back into the travel lanes and came to a final rest in the middle travel lane.

According to the report, the driver was pronounced deceased after the collision.

The FHP did not release the name of the driver.
