Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Duval County this morning that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:06 am, a 69-year-old Jacksonville man driving a Ford Escape sport utility vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Beach Boulevard at Beachwood Court within Duval County. As it advanced, the SUV crossed the median to the right and continued across the eastbound lanes, where it drove off the roadway, through a business parking lot, and collided with the building, where it came to final rest in the window of the building.
The driver was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The FHP did not release the name of the deceased driver.
