Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision yesterday in Polk County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:40 pm, a Chevy SUV, driven by a 70-year-old Lakeland man, was traveling southbound on Thornhill Road.
North of Fox Hollow Drive, the driver suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle, which departed the roadway.
Once on the shoulder, the vehicle collided with a tree and a fence.
Transported to an area hospital, the driver later expired.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the collision.
