Florida Highway Patrol investigators have located and impounded a pickup truck believed to be involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a DeSoto County motorcyclist seriously injured earlier this month.

Troopers announced this week that the suspected vehicle — described as a black Ford F-150 — was found on January 29 at the Desoto Motel. The truck has since been seized and will undergo a forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

The crash occurred January 21 at approximately 5:15 am at the intersection of SE Airport Road and SE Airport Estates Street.

According to FHP, a motorcycle traveling north on SE Airport Road was approaching the intersection when a pickup truck traveling west on SE Airport Estates Street stopped at a stop sign and then turned left into the motorcycle’s path. The front left side of the truck collided with the motorcycle.

Authorities say the truck fled the scene immediately after the crash.

The motorcyclist, a 36-year-old Arcadia man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. His current condition has not been released.

Investigators previously said the vehicle involved was possibly a 2009–2014 black Ford F-150. After locating the suspected truck this week, troopers impounded it to collect and analyze evidence.

The search for the driver remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the crash or the driver is urged to contact *FHP or submit tips anonymously through Crimestoppers.
