Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision Tuesday in Alachua County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:10 am, a sport utility vehicle driven by a 57-year-old Miami man was traveling south in the center southbound lane of Interstate 75 near the 374-mile marker.
At the same time, a pedestrian was walking in the center southbound lane of Interstate 75.
As it approached, the front of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian.
The occupants of the vehicle were not injured.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian.
