Updating Breaking News: Pedestrian hit and killed by SUV in Manatee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a pedestrian hit and killed by a sport utility vehicle last night in Manatee County.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:45 pm, a sport utility vehicle driven by a 61-year-old Bradenton man was traveling north on 9th Street East, north of 301 Boulevard East.
At the same time, an unidentified woman was walking easterly from the west side of 9th Street East.
As they approached, the pedestrian walked across the southbound travel lanes, entered the direct path of the SUV, and collided north of the 301 Boulevard East intersection.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The pedestrian's identification remains under investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver involved in the crash.
