Breaking News Overnight: Bicyclist hit and killed by SUV in Seminole County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Seminole County this morning that resulted in the death of a bicyclist.

|According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:35 am, a 25-year-old Casselberry man driving a 2019 Nissan Rogue sport utility vehicle was traveling westbound on East Lake Drive west of Lakeridge Court in the outside lane.

At the same time, a 58-year-old Winter Springs man riding a bicycle was traveling westbound on East Lake Drive west of Lakeridge Court ahead of the SUV. As they approached, the SUV failed to avoid the bicycle and struck it. 

The SUV continued traveling westbound on East Lake Drive 

The bicyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. The SUV driver later called law enforcement and advised he may have hit something. FHP troopers arrived at a nearby residence and observed damage on the SUV consistent with this crash.

FHP investigators have secured the SUV as evidence.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or bicyclist involved in the collision.
