Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Brevard County last night, resulting in the driver's death.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 12:38 am, a 1997 GMC Sierra driven by a 47-year-old Rockledge man was traveling westbound on Viera Boulevard, west of Interstate 95, in the inside lane. For unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a curb on the median.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and rotated clockwise in a northwesterly direction into the north shoulder. As a result, the vehicle collided with a fence, and the impact ejected the driver from the vehicle. The vehicle continued on until it came to rest in a water-filled ditch.
The driver was transported to Viera Hospital and later pronounced deceased.
