Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision last night in Orange County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian and a driver who fled the scene.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:32 pm, an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Curry Ford Road approaching Colton Drive.
At the same time, a 28-year-old Orlando man was walking west on Curry Ford Road on the south grass shoulder just north of the sidewalk.
As they approached, the driver lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway in a southeasterly direction. The vehicle's left tires entered the bike lane, and the right tires entered the grass shoulders, causing the right front of the vehicle to collide with the pedestrian.
After the crash, the driver fled the scene eastbound on Curry Ford Road, made a right turn onto Goldenrod Road, and entered the Walgreens parking lot. There, they checked on the vehicle's damage and then left in an unknown direction.
The pedestrian was transported to AdventHealth East Orlando and pronounced deceased.
According to the FHP report, the vehicle may be a white sedan. It should have damaged the right mirror and a broken right headlight. The right side of the front windshield may also have been damaged.
