Breaking News Overnight: FHP looking for hit-and-run driver involved in fatal collision with pedestrian in Orange County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Orange County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian and a driver who fled the scene.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:21 am, an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Orange Blossom Trail south of State Road 417. At the same time, a 34-year-old Orlando man was in the roadway, in the center lane, not in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was in the direct path of the vehicle, and as a result was struck.

After the collision, the driver fled the scene southbound on Orange Blossom Trail.

The pedestrian was transported to Osceola Regional Medical and pronounced deceased.

Traffic homicide investigators located a car part on-scene for a vehicle that could possibly have been involved in this collision. Troopers believe the vehicle could be a 2004-2008 Toyota Solara with likely damage to the front grill, bumper, and hood.
