Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Osceola County last night that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle driven by a 44-year-old Kissimmee man was traveling northbound on Buena Ventura Boulevard approaching Majors Lane in the inside lane.
At the same time, a 2017 Ford Cargo van driven by a 39-year-old Kissimmee man was stopped in the westbound lane of Majors Lane at the intersection of Buena Ventura Boulevard.
Witnesses advised the FHP that the motorcyclist was traveling above the posted speed limit and did not have the headlights on.
As they approached, the van began to make a left turn to travel southbound on Buena Ventura Boulevard and entered the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the front left of the van.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.
The driver and passenger in the van did not report any injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver, passenger, or motorcyclist involved in the crash.
