From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Lake County last night that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:54 pm, a 21-year-old Clermont man driving a 2010 Acura RDX sport utility vehicle was traveling northbound on US-27, approaching Lake Louisa Road in the center lane.
At the same time, an 18-year-old Kissimmee man was crossing the northbound lanes of US-27 in an easterly direction. The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and the direct path of the SUV, and as a result, they collided.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The SUV driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian.
