Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:15 am, and following a minor crash that occurred at Bartow High School, an adult male driver fled the scene in a 2018 Hyundai sedan.
While traveling northbound on Jackson Street at Pearl Street, the vehicle struck an 18-year-old male from Bartow and fled the scene once again.
The victim suffered fatal injuries at the scene and as a result of the crash. The vehicle was later located at a Polk County residence, where Troopers learned the driver then fled in a blue 2017 Ford Fiesta with Florida tag number 5613UJ.
