A 34-year-old Miami man was killed early Sunday morning after his pickup truck left the roadway and collided with the rear of a parked tractor-trailer along Interstate 75 in Hamilton County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:42 am near mile marker 467 on northbound Interstate 75.

According to the FHP investigation, the pickup truck was traveling northbound while approaching a left-hand curve when the driver failed to maintain a single lane of travel. The vehicle drifted onto the emergency shoulder, where a semi-truck with an attached trailer was legally parked. The front of the pickup struck the rear of the trailer.

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and the driver of the parked tractor-trailer was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
