Breaking Morning News: Motorcyclist dies after a two-vehicle collision in Columbia County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in Columbia County this morning that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:40 am, a pickup truck driven by a 65-year-old Fort Meade man was traveling north on County Road 250.

At the same time a 58-year-old White Springs man riding a motorcycle was traveling south on County Road 250.

As they approached, the truck began to make a left turn onto Nash Road in front of the motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle struck the front of the truck.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

The driver of the truck was transported to HCA Florida Lake City Hospital with minor injuries.

The FHP did not release the name of the driver or motorcyclist involved in the collision.
