Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Lafayette County this morning that resulted in the death of a passenger.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 3:15 am, a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Mayo man was traveling east on SW LC Folsom Road.
For an unknown reason, the pickup struck a tree located on the south edge of the road.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 19-year-old Mayo man, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on the scene by emergency personnel.
The driver reported minor injuries to the FHP, according to the report.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or the passenger involved in the collision.
