Breaking News Overnight: Bicyclist hit and killed by pickup truck in Suwannee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Suwannee County that resulted in the death of a bicyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 2:33 a.m., a 58-year-old Live Oak man driving a pickup truck was traveling west on US Highway 90.

At the same time, a 46-year-old Live Oak man riding a bicycle was also traveling west on US Highway 90 in the bicycle lane.

For an unknown reason, the bicyclist made an abrupt left turn into the travel lane directly in front of the pickup truck. This resulted in the front of the pickup truck colliding with the bicyclist in the roadway.

The bicyclist was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased at HCA Florida Suwannee ER.

The driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the driver's name or the name of the bicyclist involved in the collision.
