Updating Breaking News: Motorcyclist dies after a single-vehicle collision in Dixie County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Dixie County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:40 pm, a 63-year-old Steinhatchee man riding a motorcycle was traveling north on County Road 361  when he lost control after striking a pothole in the roadway. The motorcycle fell on its side and struck the roadway, resulting in the motorcyclist becoming separated from the vehicle and colliding with the ground.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene as a result of his injuries.

The FHP did not release the motorcyclist's name involved in the crash.
